How the Image OCR Works
Our OCR tool uses Tesseract.js, a JavaScript implementation of the Tesseract OCR engine. Recognition runs in your browser through WebAssembly, so the image you select is processed on your device and is not uploaded. The engine and the language model are downloaded once from the jsDelivr CDN and then cached by your browser.
Multi-Language Support
Extract text in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and more. The language data is downloaded on first use and cached for faster subsequent scans.
Best Practices
For best results, use clear images with good contrast. Scanned documents, screenshots, and photos of printed text work well. Handwritten text recognition is limited.
